Jesus said, "Freely ye have received, freely give."

Jesus said, "Freely ye have received, freely give." Through the study and application of Christian Science I have received so many blessings that I should like to share some of them here, in the hope that they will give encouragement and help to some hungry heart searching and yearning for a better understanding of God.

Christian Science was presented to me during a visit to some friends in another city, who, because I had considered them atheists, surprised me by asking what I thought God was, and then telling me how one of them had been healed in Christian Science, when an operation seemed the only solution to a physical problem. In reply to my statement that my concept of God was of an all-seeing eye in the sky somewhere, these friends explained that God is Love, and then let me read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

The book proved so interesting, and I was so convinced that it contained the truth for which I had been longing, that upon returning to my own city I immediately enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School, bought a copy of Science and Health, and started attending services regularly. My mother, who had been brought up in one of the orthodox churches, but had stopped attending because its teachings did not satisfy her, then became interested in Christian Science, started attending services, and had a number of beautiful healings through the help of a practitioner.

Among the healings experienced have been those of colds, almost continuous headaches, cuts, and burns. Several years ago, when an inharmonious physical condition appeared, my fear was so great I seemed unable to solve this problem myself; so I asked a practitioner for help. She lovingly told me to remember my victories, and as I did this and realized continuously that God would not forsake or fail me, in two weeks the physical manifestation had disappeared.

Once, when I was starting on a trip, the door of an automobile was accidentally slammed on the fingers of one hand, and the pain was exruciating. My thoughts turned at once to "the scientific statement of being," as given on page 468 of Science and Health, and when I reached my destination an hour later, all pain had vanished and there was no physical sign of the accident. Christian Science has protected me many times, in many ways; particularly during an influenza epidemic and in several automobile accidents.

For all these proofs of God's love and care I am truly deeply thankful; but most of all I am grateful for the increased understanding I have gained of God and His creation, for the enlightenment and message of love, health, and peace which Christian Science is bringing to the world, for all our literature, for the lectures, for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and for having had the privilege of attending and teaching in the Christian Science Sunday School. I am also especially grateful for class instruction and for the priceless privilege of serving for four years, completing the nurses' training course in our Sanatorium in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.
