It is with much gratitude that I am sending this testimony of protection and of the healing of sickness.

From very early childhood I had been a sufferer from inflammatory rheumatism. I was subject to acute attacks several times each year. During a particularly severe attack, a friend asked me to have Christian Science treatment. Although I had little faith in its efficacy, I consented to having a Science practitioner called, who worked for me. In less than a week I was walking, and I have never had a recurrence of the difficulty. That was about ten years ago. At the same time I was healed of a nose and throat trouble which a specialist had said would never disappear without an operation.

I am grateful for a recent proof of protection and guidance which came to a friend and me while driving our car over the St. Gothard Pass in Switzerland. We had miscalculated the distance and the amount of time necessary to get over the Pass, and before we had reached the summit it was evening. We ran into a heavy rain and snow storm and then into a black cloud. We could barely see the hood of the engine and only a few feet of the road in front of us. However, we climbed the narrow circling road in perfect safety, all the while claiming our protection as God's children.

The cloud lifted a little and we came to a fork in the road. There were no signs, and we had no idea which road to take down the mountain. We had met no one during our journey up the Pass. We stopped the car and worked to know that we would be rightly guided. I tried to realize the ever-presence of God, and the much-loved sentence from Science and Health (p. 494) came to my thought, "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." Almost instantly a mountain shepherd appeared with his flock of sheep at the side of the car, and in French, which I was able to understand, told us which road to take and also directed us to a lovely mountain village, where we spent the night.

I am very grateful for all the blessings which have come to me through Christian Science; also for the splendid work of our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has presented this Science to the world so that all may study and apply it.
