The first sentence in the Preface to "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy reads as follows: "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." The blessings I have received through the study of our beloved Leader's works are innumerable. First of all it has changed my entire life by showing me where to find the treasures "where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt;" it has given me peace, joy, and happiness, and it is showing me how to become a "new man." I am glad to be able to state that the liquor and smoking habits have left me, together with a lot of other bad habits. Christian Science has been my only physician for the last eight years, and through the loving help of practitioners every claim of sickness has been overcome.

I should like to relate how I was helped out of a very serious financial situation. One day I found myself stranded in a strange town, about twenty days' sea voyage from home, with only a little silver left in my pocket. I went to the Y.M.C.A. to get a room for the night, leaving my luggage on board the steamer until the next day. Having no copy of The Christian Science Journal with me, I inquired if there was any Christian Science church or society in the town, but was unable to get any information. Then the thought came to me that if I needed Christian Science it would be available, and I had only to go out and find it. After walking for about ten minutes my eye caught a small signboard on which I read, "Christian Science Reading Room, Open Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m." This was on a Monday, still it gave me the needed courage and I went to my room and prayed for help. The next morning I went on board the steamer to get my luggage. There the stevedore, who was a well-to-do native merchant, came up to me and asked if I was in need of a position. The result of the conversation was that I got a position in his office, and he gave me so much cash at once that I was able to pay in advance a month's board and lodging.

The Christian Science periodicals are daily helping me to digest that which I read in our Bible Lessons. The periodicals are like "the pillar of the cloud by day" and "of fire by night," leading mankind to the fountain that flows with the waters of Life. I am very grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and for having the great privilege of serving in the different activities of the latter. Christian Science is the greatest blessing that has come to the world since the days of our dear Master, Christ Jesus.—John Cairns Kinch, Copenhagen, Denmark.
