Items of Interest

In October last a letter was sent from the Manager of Committees on Publication to all Committees in the various states and countries, announcing the availability of three electrical transcriptions for radiocasting purposes. The result is that there have been about one hundred and twenty-five radiocasts of these transcriptions, which have been pronounced quite successful in that they have helped to make Christian Scientists more appreciative of Christian Science radiocasts, and have interested many who are not Christian Science in such important facts as these: that Christian Science is based on the Bible, and that Mrs. Eddy's principal book, Science and Health, used as a companion textbook to the Bible in Christian Science services, is a "key" to the Scriptures.

In an interview which Mrs. Eddy gave the New York Herald in 1901, and which is reprinted in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (pp. 341–346), the interviewer asked about her attitude regarding "the pursuit of modern material inventions," and she answered: "Oh, we cannot oppose them. They all tend to newer, finer, more etherealized ways of living. They seek the finer essences. They light the way to the Church of Christ. We use them, we make them our figures of speech. They are preparing the way for us."

A branch church has asked, "Should letters intended for the Board of Directors of The Mother Church be addressed to 107 Falmouth Street?" The answer is, Yes. The Directors are occupying temporary quarters inteh the former Publishing House at 107 Falmouth Street, which will hereafter be known as The Mother Church Administration Building. They are remaining there during the reconstruction period. During April of May all of the administrative offices, including the Board of Directors, will be permanently located in this building.

Do you know that the Field Representative of The Christian Science Benevolent Association sanatoriums, Mr. John Henry Weer, is addressing meetings of church members in cities throughout the United States? Mr. Weer has carried on this activity for nearly five months. His tour began in New England and has now extended to Southern California. He has conducted approximately thirty meetings and has others on his schedule extending through the spring months.

Christian Science Society, Lodz, Poland, has instituted a Christian Science service in Russian, in addition to those in German and Polish which were already established. The society writes, "The German service begins at 10.30 in the morning, the Polish at 12 noon, the Russian at 18 o'clock in the afternoon" (6 p.m. our reckoning).
