I had suffered for several months from what a physician...

I had suffered for several months from what a physician called tuberculosis of the bowels, was operated on several times, and spent a large sum of money in hospitals and sanitariums. I lost sixty pounds in weight. Then along came a true friend and comforter and asked me to try Christian Science, saying that she knew it would heal me. I was so favorably impressed with its name that I told her I should be glad to try it.

A practitioner was called and one or two treatments given me, also a copy of Science and Health was bought for me; but in a few days I grew worse and again was taken to the sanitarium. A specialist told me that I was entirely too weak to undergo the operation which would be necessary to improve my health. I told him that I had a copy of Science and Health and wanted to read it. A good friend in the hospital had me removed to a hotel, gave me a few pillows, and placed my little book on them so that I might be able to read. She was not a Christian Scientist, but did this to satisfy me, as she did not think I was going to last long. First I began to sleep well, which I had not done for months. My first night's sleep, undisturbed by terrible nightmares, was remarkable. At once I knew I was being helped by the reading of this textbook. I began to gain in weight and to regain my happiness. The four months I was in the hotel I met no one who was even interested in this Science, and had no help whatever except the reading of the book; but I was completely healed of tuberculosis of the bowels. I have also received many other healings, such as of blood poisoning and inflammation of the kidneys, and for all of these I am indeed very grateful. I wish to express gratitude also for a healing of grief at my mother's passing on.

It is a joy to me to know that Christian Science is taught and demonstrated all over the world. I have had the privilege of attending Christian Science services in Egypt, India, and China, and found The Christian Science Monitor and the writings of Mrs. Eddy in all these countries.

At one time it was a little hard for me to give a testimony in church, but it was easire after I found a beautiful verse in Exodus: "Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say." I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church and for class instruction. May I reflect only the divine Mind and know that God is ever present and All-in-all.
