It is with great gratitude for what Christian Science has...

It is with great gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me that I write this testimony.

When the Christian Science textbook was given to me many years ago I did my best to read it, but finding nothing that I could understand, I laid it aside. Later, when I was suffering from an acute attack of neuralgia and deep depression, I looked into it again, and I was struck with the first words I saw: "Error cannot destroy error" (Science and Health, p. 496). I was interested in these words and continued to read every day; and my interest increased daily until suddenly I awoke to the fact that the neuralgia had vanished. I was filled with joy, for the depression had gone also. Later, both my husband and I had a very prolonged attack, but neither of us took any medicine. I read Science and Health until we were both healed; and this trouble has never returned.

My next healing was of a very stubborn form of indigestion. For many years several doctors had treated me for this and I was always told that it could not be healed, but only relieved. I spoke to a friend about this, asking whether Christian Science could heal chronic disease. She said it certainly could, and repeated a conversation she had had with a practitioner which made it very clear to me that God alone created and governs the universe. The result was my instantaneous healing, and from that day I have used no healing method other than Christian Science.

I have experienced many proofs of God's loving protection and care. On two occasions I fell downstairs, each time without the slightest injury. My ankles had been weak from childhood and had often caused me to fall; but when I realized that God alone was my support, they gave me no more pain or trouble.

Needless to say, I am very grateful for these physical healings, but I can never forget the healing I had of a moral trouble. Being burdened with animosity of which I had honestly tried to get rid but had failed, I went to see a practitioner. The unreality of the whole thing was made so clear to me that I left the office free. My deepest gratitude is due to God for the innumerable blessings I have received at His hand, and also great gratitude to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.
