Our Shepherd

Within the circle of His comprehending love,
Our Shepherd, Mind, unwearied, watches night and day;
His children are His flock, His loved, His own; He tends
Them in His infinitely tender, patient way.

Assuringly He leads them through His kindliness
In paths of sinlessness and peace, and gently guides
Them to the promised pasture of His providence,
Where harmony is poised and innocence abides.

He is the zealous Shepherd of reality;
He wields His Word, a flaming rod of truth, to hold
Within His care each right desire, each new-formed thought,
To further fashion and mature them in His mold.
