The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

Glasgow, Scotland (First Church).

Lecturer: Arthur P. DeCamp; introduced by Mrs. Ellison M. Walker, who said:—

Christ Jesus said, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." He also said, "I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you." Today mankind seems to be in special need of the Comforter—in great need of something to lift the heavy burdens. Those who turn to Christian Science in their time of need are finding that the promises of our Master are being fulfilled. My heart is filled with gratitude for the blessings which have come into my life through Christian Science. At a time when there were many trials, and disappointment and sorrow seemed very real, Christian Science gave me strength to go on. Then, one day, there came to me a verse from the parable of the prodigal son—the words of the father, saying, "Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine." These words were so illumined through the teachings of Christian Science that I was instantly healed; and in place of sorrow and disappointment there are now peace and joy and well-being.
