In the report of a lecture the lecturer was quoted as having said that the real danger of Christian Science is in trying to overcome physical symptoms of disease by the application of autosuggestion. That statement proves conclusively that the professor has no understanding of Christian Science or the way it operates, and it may surprise him to learn that Christian Scientists do not use autosuggestion, because they do not believe in it.

The spiritual method of healing sickness and sin in Christian Science cannot possibly be a danger, because it is the same method used by Christ Jesus during his three years' ministry on earth. Jesus did not use human will-power, but healed through the understanding of the omnipotence and omnipresence of God, and of man's unity with the Father. He said, "I can of mine own self do nothing;" and, "The Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works."

The Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, says on page x of the Preface that the human mind "is not a factor in the Principle of Christian Science;" and again on page 451 of the same book, "Every Christian Scientist, every conscientious teacher of the Science of Mind-healing, knows that human will is not Christian Science, and he must recognize this in order to defend himself from the influence of human will."
