Over two years ago my condition was extremely hopeless, physically and mentally. As the result of a long and critical illness my body was almost completely paralyzed. The illness started several years before while I was in the employ of a medical institution with which I had been associated in an executive capacity for over fifteen years, one of the largest and best known medical institutions in the world. The various specialists, most of whom were personal friends, unselfishly did all within their power to restore me to health, making use of the vast medical and surgical facilities at hand; but my condition grew steadily worse.

When hope of recovery through the use of material means failed, my wife, with the aid of a nurse, brought me by motor to Seattle, as that move was considered best by all concerned. For several months after my arrival, however, my condition became even more serious and alarming.

One Sunday evening the radio, which had long been silent in the home, was turned on. The services which are broadcast jointly by the Christian Science churches and society in Seattle, from First Church of Christ, Scientist, came over the air. At first the services meant very little to me, as my thought was filled with nothing but fear, doubt, and despair. However, I listened to subsequent services over the radio for several weeks. Finally the Lesson-Sermons, read with such earnestness and consecration of purpose by the Readers, penetrated that dark wall of hopelessness and awakened me to the realization that Christian Science does heal and save. This awakening led to an earnest study of the Bible and of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. My progress from then on was steady and marked. I am now well, strong, and active, both mentally and physically. My weight has increased from one hundred and twenty pounds to nearly one hundred and ninety pounds; but the substantial gain has been spiritual.

Our Leader says (Science and Health, p. 224), "No power can withstand divine Love." I am glad to have had the opportunity, with countless others, of proving by experience, in part at least, the truth and accuracy of that statement. I am deeply grateful for every branch of the Christian Science movement; for the church services, the lectures, the loyal practitioners, the Reading Rooms, and the various authorized Christian Science periodicals. I am also grateful beyond words for class instruction from a loyal and consecrated teacher of Christian Science.

For months he was in a helpless and hopeless condition of health, with day and night nurses constantly in attendance.
