It is with an increasing sense of gratitude that I submit the following testimony to the efficacy of Christian Science.
Since childhood I had suffered from an outward goiter. Every material remedy was tried, internally and externally, but none successfully; as a result, it was decided that an operation would be necessary.
My brother had meanwhile been interested in Christian Science for some time, but the rest of the family were very much prejudiced against it. However, during my first year in high school, he persuaded me to have Christian Science treatment for abscesses in both ears which had seemed to result from compulsory vaccination for smallpox. I had a beautiful healing. I was then given my choice of going on with
Christian Science or submitting to the operation. Childlike, I chose Christian Science because I was afraid of an operation. I began attending Sunday school (a privilege for which I have been increasingly grateful ever since) and studying the Lesson-Sermons from the Christian Science Quarterly as earnestly as I knew how.
I naturally began looking for the physical healing, and often became discouraged when I could not see any results. After some few years it came to me almost as a revelation that I needed a mental healing of resentment. Shortly after this, needless to say, the physical healing followed. I did not fully realize it until it was brought to my attention by persons who formely had remarked about the condition. I can never express enough gratitude for this healing. This was over six years ago. I should like also to express gratitude for the loving help and encouragement from practitioners during the entire experience.
I have had many beautiful unfoldments. I have been thankful since that this healing was such a slow one. There is nothing which could take the place of my spiritual growth during that period. I wish to express my gratitude for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and for class instruction.
