I should like to give thanks for the many benefits and healings which my family and I have experienced through Christian Science. They have been varied and convincing, each one bringing improvement in character and more understanding.

While I was poking around in a barn to get some needed things, the telephone bell rang and I hurried to the entrance. In my haste I did not notice a rake lying before me and stepped on the teeth, bringing the handle with terrific force against my arm. It hurt a great deal, but I thought the pain would subside in a minute. However, it continued, and the arm was helpless. I walked on slowly to the side of the house, turning over in my thought the truth about God and man. When I reached the dining room window I stood still and declared with the emphasis born of conviction, "If these things are true, and I know they are, then right now I have the right to a complete manifestation of that which is." The pain ceased instantly, and in its place was a most beautiful sense of uplift, impossible to describe.

About twenty minutes later I chanced to look down at my arm, for the first time since the incident occurred, and found it very much out of shape at the elbow. This was a further proof to me that our real spiritual-self is "outside of all material selfhood," as Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 476), for I had used the arm quite freely since the pain left. I did not look at the arm again until two hours later, when it was perfectly normal in appearance. Shortly afterward I had occasion to have a Christian Science nurse in to care for the children. She had had medical training, so I spoke to her of my experience, and upon examining the arm she said it appeared to have been broken just at the elbow joint.

Shortly before my baby was two years old he fell and struck his head on a sharp corner of brick on the steps. There was a large wound in the middle of his forehead, which was bleeding badly. Fear tried to argue that it would be wise to take some so-called practical steps, but the fear was put out with the realization of God's ability and willingness to care for him. The next morning the wound had the appearance of one at least three weeks old. The bone structure was normal, and the flesh wound well on the way to healing.

During a recent visit to a dentist, after taking an X-ray photograph, he said that a tooth should come out at once, as gengrene had formed and the root was all but rotted away. He put in some gutta percha and hoped I would not have trouble with the tooth in the interim. That evening I was quite uncomfortable. By nine o'clock it was becoming increasingly difficult to open my mouth, and finally I was unable to do so at all. I decided then to turn unreservedly to God, so my husband telephoned to a friend who was acquainted with the situation. She gave me one treatment, and I received instantaneous relief. I left the gutta percha in for a year, feeling that if I went back to the dentist I might be persuaded to deny my healing. When I did go, he was surprised to find the tooth still in, and asked if it had not bothered me. I told him no, not since the evening of the day he had opened it. He took another X-ray photograph and said that he did not understand it, but I must be in excellent physical condition as the root had built itself up. He showed me this picture and the one taken the year before. I was very grateful!

I did not come to Christian Science for physical healing, although I certainly got it. It was the words "with Key to the Scriptures" that impelled me to examine Science and Health. I shall never forget my reading of it. Physical ailments just fell away. I had always been delicate, though people would find it difficult to believe that to-day. Among the difficulties was chronic indigestion, which had been persistent since I was a small child, prematurely born. Later, the bones in both feet became displaced, as a result, the doctors said, of malnutrition. I was lifted out of the whole thing and began, in truth, to put on "the new man."

I received wonderful help at the birth of our three children. Scarlet fever, nervous prostration, rapid heart action, paralysis, asthma, severed artery, hemorrhage, chicken pox, and business difficulties have been healed in our family. Christian Science has been a wonderful help in bringing up the children. It has brought me all the real happiness I have ever known. Truly it is "the Comforter;" and my heart goes out to God in humble gratitude that we have this approach to Him, and that Mrs. Eddy was spiritually-minded enough to reveal this Comforter to the world.—(Mrs.) Frances C. Jennings, Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan.
