In discussing divine healing in your issue of July 12 "the Doctor"...

In discussing divine healing in your issue of July 12 "the Doctor" made no reference to Christian Science, but your readers may have mistakenly regarded some of his comments as applicable to our religion. Therefore space is asked briefly to discuss spiritual healing and its beneficent results.

When Christ Jesus was on earth he healed "all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people." He healed blindness, deafness, dumbness, paralysis, leprosy, insanity, and types of organic and functional disease, but he did not employ any material means to effect the cures. He cured sin and sickness, and destroyed the belief of death by spiritual means alone.

Jesus had a complete and perfect understanding of God's law, which annuls physical and mental errors. That his healing method was divinely mental was plainly indicated when he said to a group of his followers: "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." These words brought also the assurance that intelligent obedience to the moral precepts and teachings of Christ Jesus and to his commandments to love God supremely and one's neighbor as one's self, together with prayerful meditation on his life, character, and works, lifts one mentally to that state of spiritual consciousness where immunity from sin and sickness may be enjoyed. Is not this the Master's concept of divine healing; and is not this the way he expected his followers to heal when he said, "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do"?
