In appreciation of the many healings my children and I have experienced through the truth as revealed in Christian Science, and with a desire to convince some doubting one that Christian Science does heal when understandingly and faithfully applied, I give this testimony.

I think the healing that is uppermost in my thought is one of nervous breakdown, indigestion, and bowel trouble. I was reading Christian Science literature at the time I was stricken with this, but was making no special effort to live the truth, and was full of doubt and fear. I continued to read, but had not lost faith in materia medica, so would be under the care of a physician for a time, then would have a Christian Science practitioner—first one and then the other.

I realized that I could not continue this way, for I was in a terrible state of mind, full of self-condemnation. I was convinced that I could never give up Science, so I called on a practitioner, with my medicine in my handbag, and told her that I imagined I felt like a person with a bad habit who had a great desire to give it up but could not. I asked her to treat me for the desire for medicine and my faith in it, which she consented to do. At this time I was eating only toast and eggs, and had lost thirty pounds in weight in six months. I was indeed most miserable. A short time after asking for treatment I found that I had ceased taking medicine and did not feel the need of it, as I was eating anything that I wanted with no bad effects. It is over five years since that healing, and I soon regained the thirty pounds.

When I spilled boiling grease on my hand, by instantly knowing the truth I felt no pain; and no blister formed. Within twenty-four hours after spraining my ankle I walked a mile, and stood on my feet for an hour gathering beans, walking back home with no discomfort whatever.

One winter my daughter was suddenly taken ill. It was not apparent what the ailment was, so I called in a physician to diagnose it. After an examination he said he did not know what the trouble was. We had Christian Science treatment, but the healing seemed a little slow, for there was much fear and erroneous thinking to be destroyed. Within a month she was completely healed; and she has since been in better health than ever before. With this healing came a change of thought, which is the beauty of Christian Science healing; for when we are healed physically we are regenerated in thought. The children and I have experienced the healing of headaches, colds, influenza, the results of accidents, tonsillitis, scarlet fever, and mumps. I am indeed grateful to God, the Giver of all good; for Christ Jesus, for class instruction under a loyal teacher, for the practitioners who have so lovingly helped me, and for all the avenues through which this truth has come to me and mine. Each day I am more grateful to Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.

I wish to corroborate the testimony of my mother in regard to myself. I am indeed grateful for that wonderful healing I had, and for many others, as I doubt very much if I would be here to-day if it were not for Christian Science. I feel so grateful for the casting out of wrong thoughts which not only made me restless and unhappy, for I was always condemning myself, but also caused my parents much anxiety. I am grateful that I was led to accept this beautiful religion while yet quite young, and pray that I may live up to my highest understanding of it.
