I have frequently turned to the testimonies of healing in The Christian Science Journal and the Christian Science Sentinel for a deeper sense of gratitude, and in every instance have the grateful acknowledgments given therein lifted my thought to a higher plane and awakened fresh courage to work anew over some troublesome problem.

The physical healings I have experienced have been numerous and varied, contagion, coughs, colds, sore throat, cuts, burns, sunburn, and many other discords having been overcome. My two little daughters at the ages of four and six were healed of scarlet fever in malignant form in thirty-six hours. My son at the age of three months was healed of measles in twelve hours.

I was healed of a dislocated vertebra in fifteen minutes. The fear of a broken back and a life of disability almost overwhelmed me as I lay half conscious in a crumpled heap, unable to see or to endure being moved. My sister immediately called a Christian Science practitioner and asked for help, and very soon I was placed on the bed in a partially normal position. Only a short time elapsed before the pain had sufficiently subsided so that I could allow my body to be straightened and was able to see. I asked to be left alone. At once the thought came to me clearly and forcefully, I know that God is able to raise me up, if I could only realize the truth. With my first attempt to arise I fell back with the excruciating pain; my second attempt, almost immediately afterward, was less painful but not successful. Still declaring the ability and the willingness of God to lift me up I tried again, slowly slipping one foot to the floor, then the other, and tremulously sitting upright. With great effort I then stood alone, taking my steps like a child learning to walk. I realized the truth of Mrs. Eddy's words in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 423), "Both Science and consciousness are now at work in the economy of being according to the law of Mind, which ultimately asserts its absolute supremacy." Less than ten minutes after being left alone I walked into the dining room unaided, had breakfast, and thirty minutes later caught the train which I had been planning to take, much to the dismay of a member of my family who could not understand Christian Science. This same member was, later, healed of varicose veins of long standing, after being compelled to wear a heavy rubber stocking every day for many years, through my study and application of the truth, although I had been studying Christian Science only a few months; and a short time afterwards was healed of a severe cough, cold, high temperature, and pain in the chest in three hours in the same manner. With the help of a loving practitioner I was healed of influenza in twenty-four hours.

The last two winters before I took up the study of Christian Science had been spent in suffering and misery from sore throat. I have not had a serious attack since I began studying Christian Science, and the infrequent and slight appearances have been quickly met.

One other healing I should like to give. Nearly four years ago I left my little son, then two and a half years of age, well and happily playing in the care of another. On my return two hours later he was brought to me too ill to sit up or even keep his eyes open. He feebly lisped, "Read the Science books for me, Mother," and lapsed again into unconsciousness. For a moment I was terror-stricken; next a wave of resentment swept over me; but neither survived long. I humbly asked God to help me, and instantly the words from Mrs. Eddy's address in Chicago, published in "Miscellaneous Writings" (pp. 102, 103), "Science defines omnipresence as universality, that which precludes the presence of evil," came to me, so clear, so concise, so complete, that for a few moments I was oblivious of all surroundings and dwelt only in the realization of these few words. The child sat up in my arms; all weakness and insensibility had disappeared; every sign of temperature had gone: he was completely healed. Are not these proofs that "the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword"?

I am indeed grateful for these beautiful healings and many others; also for our church services and Sunday school, for the Lesson-Sermons and literature, for The Mother Church in Boston and its watchful Board of Directors, and for the lectures which have been so instructive and helpful to me.—(Mrs.)Dee Ellen Dady, Waukegan, Illinois.
