Having received many blessings for the last eleven years from the teachings of Christian Science, I should like to express my gratitude through this channel provided by our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy.

In the year 1919 my sister and I went to a testimony meeting in a small Christian Science church in our town. It seemed that curiosity took us there, but now we know it was the guidance of divine Love. Our need seemed great, for we were very unhappy over discordant conditions in our home, and both were in bad health. My sister had been obliged to give up business owing to a breakdown, the doctor telling her that she had active lung trouble. I had been a great sufferer for over twenty years with an internal complaint, and a great deal of my time was spent in bed trying any material remedy which I hoped might bring me health and strength.

Soon after attending the service we borrowed the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Eddy, and began to read it, earnestly praying that God would show us whether it was the truth. On page 2 of the textbook we read: "Are we benefited by praying? Yes, the desire which goes forth hungering after righteousness is blessed of our Father, and it does not return unto us void."

The answer to our prayers came in the proof of healing. One day I realized that I must prove this teaching for myself. I was alone and able to read the textbook most of the day. At times it seemed as if mental and physical suffering would almost overwhelm me, and once I said aloud, "Oh, if someone could help me!" Then the answer came, "God is here;" and very soon I had a wonderful sense of the presence of God giving me such peace and calm that all pain and weakness vanished, and I felt instantly well and strong. This healing proved to me as nothing else could have done that Christian Science is indeed the truth which Jesus said should make us free, and through its teachings we understand that this freedom is from sickness as well as from sin. Since then I have gone on daily proving the great goodness of God, and His power to supply our every need. Our home soon became harmonious as we learned that we truly live in God and that spiritual consciousness is filled with His peace.

My sister was completely healed, and many other healings came to members of our family, several of whom are now earnest students of Christian Science. I cannot express in words my gratitude for all these blessings, but I daily thank God for the fuller understanding of Himself which has come to us and to the world through His faithful messenger, our dear Leader, who so listened for God's voice that she was able to give us the "key" to the Scriptures, and also firmly to establish this teaching for all time. I am also very grateful to all who have so greatly helped me, especially in the early days, those days when the love and patience of older students mean much to the beginner.
