On going to Boston, I was very antagonistic to what I thought Christian Science meant; and as my people there were all Scientists, I gave vent to my feelings very often and criticized Christian Science very much. But one day I met someone who told me of the wonderful things Christian Science had done for him. I thought he was overenthusiastic, but I can see now that was what first aroused my interest.

In about a month I lost my position, and decided to put this religion to the test; so I called on a practitioner and asked her some questions. She was so sweet to me, and so different from what I had pictured she would be, that I left her office entirely free free any inquisitiveness, and with more hope and joy than I ever imagined was possible. She lent me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which I read incessantly for about a month; and then I began attending the services.

That was over four years ago, and Christian Science has met my every need since. I had not been interested long before I wanted the opportunity to prove Christian Science, to see if I actually would rely on it if I were taken ill; and in March, almost seven months after I took up the study, I was taken down with my usual complaint of tonsillitis, which was followed by inflammatory rheumatism. I was healed of these in a very short time, and I have never had a return of either. I have also been healed of abscesses, boils, and headaches, from which I had suffered all my life.

To say that I am grateful for these healings is indeed putting it mildly; but most of all I am grateful to God; to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower; to all the practitioners who have assisted me; and last, I am grateful to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has revealed this wonderful truth, and taught us the application of it. I am also grateful for membership in The Mother Church.
