Great gratitude to God, to our dear Leader, and to a local practitioner, and the desire to encourage the despondent who are seeking the truth, prompt me to give this testimony. I was a member of the national church, and of a Bible class for girls. At the same time I attended all kinds of lectures; for I found that other movements knew something, too, which would serve to promote spiritual life. This was a sign that I was not altogether satisfied.

About a year and a half ago I was taken seriously ill. Besides an acute abdominal complaint I had nervous convulsions which at one time affected my body so that I could not walk, and at another time my head, resulting in a slight paralysis of the brain. I underwent treatment by those who applied natural remedies, homeopathy, and allopathy, and the diagnosis in each case was practically the same; but none of them could help me. I was just consoled with good advice until a turn for the better should take place.

My condition grew more serious. Those around me grew more anxious, and they were prepared for the worst. Then a friend, a Christian Scientist, visited me and, without urging me, advised me to go to see a Christian Science practitioner. Deciding quickly, I went the same day, and was received lovingly. As I had been interested in religion for years, this teaching was so clear to me that at once I knew it was the truth which Jesus had taught and lived.

From this time I was privileged to visit the practitioner every week with my mother, who also had a great affliction to bear, above which she now has risen. She was able to lay aside her glasses in a few weeks. These she had worn for four years. After two treatments I was free from all sickness. How happy and contented I have been since then, for I know what I have received! My wish is that others, too, may be encouraged to study the truth earnestly. My friends wonder how it was possible for me to be healed so quickly. All things are possible to God; and He has promised healing to those who believe on Him.

May these lines be to many who are seeking the truth a light in the darkness, in which they have hitherto wantered, that they, too, may know that they are God's children.
