Letters from the Field

"I am deeply grateful for the privilege of spending a few days at our Christian Science sanatorium, grateful that the loving thought of our revered Leader has resulted in furnishing this haven of rest and refreshment. There is nothing like it. Its care for its guests, so like a mother's tender love —what wonder that the sick, the sorrowing, and the sinner are healed and blessed, comforted and regenerated! During the six days of my stay I heard earnest expressions of grateful appreciation on every hand, and not one word of criticism. I myself experienced a new realization of the powerlessness of matter, alias mortal mind, to hinder or retard the unfoldment to human consciousness of the eternal harmony.

"(Mrs.) Grace S. Voorhees, Buffalo, New York."

"I wish to tell how grateful and happy I am for the privilege of spending one week at the Christian Science sanatorium. It was indeed a helpful experience. The love expressed throughout the entire place was a revelation to me. Upon arrival I seemed to feel a very keen sense of loneliness, but this was quickly healed in the atmosphere of peace and harmony. The kindly smile and cheery word expressed each day by guests and workers filled my heart with joy and a sense of loving companionship. I am so grateful for the opportunity of quiet and study, and for the spiritual truths gained. The evening song services were a great joy and inspiration.

"My daily prayer is that I may abundantly give of that spiritual grace and purity of thought so clearly expressed at the sanatorium.

"(Miss) Naomi C. Swanson, Yakima, Washington."

"In September [1925] it was my privilege to be a guest at the Christian Science sanatorium. I was there for a period of rest and study. The time was all too short, but it was filled with so much of good that it will always be remembered as one of the most precious experiences of my life. There was a great deal of unselfed love expressed on every hand by each associate. There was so much purity of thought, and so much real beauty expressed throughout the sanatorium, that the atmosphere was most restful and uplifting.

"I am grateful for the healings that I saw take place, and for the many beautiful healings which had taken place and about which I heard from both associates and guests. I shall never cease to be grateful for the opportunity for quiet study that was afforded me. I am grateful to our dear Leader for the wisdom and foresight and love which prompted the establishing of this home. It is indeed a haven for the sick who are seeking healing, for the weary of heart, and for the worker who, through a respite from his usual activity, may draw closer to God through the study of the Bible and our Leader's writings.

"(Mrs.) Vivien U. Willard, Columbus, Ohio."

"I have been slow to acknowledge my gratitude for the privilege of being a guest at the sanatorium, but it is none the less sincere. While there I received a most beautiful spiritual awakening. Though I had been a student of Christian Science for many years, it seems I had been asleep much of the time. I am so grateful for the awakening; it is beginning to be expressed in my body.

"I am thankful for the loving service in the sanatorium and the wonderful atmosphere of peace and harmony.

"(Mrs.) Pearl Doty, Chicago, Illinois."
