Gratitude prompts me to testify to the great help I have received in Christian Science.

In the spring of 1917, I was taken very ill. We did not realize, however, how ill I was until one morning I arose with such severe pain in my left side that for a moment we did not know what to do. We had known of Christian Science through relatives for some time, and had gained confidence in it. We therefore sent a telegram at once to a practitioner in Hannover asking for treatment. The same afternoon the terrible pain abated. We had also sent for a physician in order to have a diagnosis. When he came the severe pain had already yielded to Christian Science treatment; but in spite of this the physician asked reproachfully why we had not sent for him before, because my condition was very critical.

At first there was no further improvement in my condition, so we asked the practitioner to visit me; which she most willingly did. She recognized at once that it was not only the physical sickness which depressed me to such an extent, but also mental inharmonies. When this became clear to me, and I recognized spiritual Truth better, my healing progressed so rapidly that in less than a fortnight I was able to walk for twenty minutes; whereas for weeks before I had only been able to go from my bed to an armchair with the greatest difficulty, and supported on both sides. My relatives and all those who had seen me were surprised at my quick recovery. Yes, they even told me that they never thought I would return to work. Since that time I have remained well, happy, and able to work without interruption.

My father was also healed of a serious nervous trouble. I am deeply grateful to God for all the blessings which my relatives and I have experienced; grateful to Mrs. Eddy, who so loyally and bravely has again shown us the way to the redeeming Christ, Truth; grateful to all those dear ones who have helped me.
