With deepest gratitude and in honor to God, and as a blessing and encouragement to my fellow-men, I wish to give the following testimony. We have been adherents of Christian Science for many years, and have experienced the blessings of Truth in various ways. But as I was doubtful now and again, until the time of my own healing, I often asked God to give me proofs that this teaching is the truth.

The last of January I began to suffer from indigestion and vomiting, and was able to eat only so-called light foods. This condition lasted several months. One day, after a severe attack of vomiting, my hands became quite stiff and deformed. I requested my husband to telephone at once to a Christian Science practitioner. When she came at noon my whole body seemed to be slowly stiffening; but as the result of her realization of God's omnipotence and omnipresence the numbness slowly yielded, just as it had appeared. This experience aroused in me a certain amount of fear, and in spite of the practitioner's comforting words I could not fully realize that what God heals is thoroughly healed, and I need not fear a return. As the sense of fear did not seem to yield, in spite of the declaration of Truth, the practitioner visited me again on the following afternoon. In her presence I went peacefully to sleep.

My awakening the following morning cannot be described in words; for I was permitted to experience God's presence, and I was filled with a peace which the world cannot give. Error tried to suggest to me that I must take care of myself by remaining in bed, but the practitioner enlightened me on this subject, too. With the words, "God is my strength," I arose and, to the great joy of my relatives, appeared at the breakfast table; and afterwards I took part without any effort whatever in the household duties. Although I had been able to take only liquid nourishment during the week, at noon I ate among other things a roll, with great appetite. Since then I have been able to eat everything without discomfort.

This wonderful healing taught me to recognize the truth which makes us free, as the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, teach us. Only those who have experienced anything similar can estimate my gratitude to God, to Mrs. Eddy, and to the dear practitioner. I can prove my gratitude in part by giving this sincere testimony to inspire and encourage those still doubting. My prayer is the desire to grow in the understanding of Truth, and, in order to bless my fellow-men, to be able better to reflect God, infinite Love.
