For the past ten years Christian Science has met my every need; and I feel it is time that I should try to put into words my gratitude for the blessings and happiness it has brought into my life.

When I first heard of Christian Science, it was not so much the physical healing that appealed to me as the idea of a practical religion. The clearness with which our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, has explained the Bible, and the light shed by our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," on the Commandments and the teachings of Jesus the Christ, which before I had not understood, have indeed altered my whole outlook on life.

Before hearing of Christian Science my thought had been full of a sense of injustice and the hopelessness of trying to do right, one trouble and disappointment seeming to follow another. I had been trained as a hospital nurse and loved my work, but often felt how even the seeming bodily healing failed to bring happiness or joy to the patient,—even to those who professed to believe in God.

After reading the Christian Science textbook for the first time, I put into practice the truth I had gained from its teachings, and having given up all material remedies, was healed in ten days of a chronic internal trouble from which I had suffered for four years. I also left off glasses, which had been worn for eleven years, and which I had been told by two oculists I could never do without. Also, I had suffered some years previously from a condition of softening of the bones of the spine, and had been, off and on, in bed for a year. Then by the advice of two surgeons I was confined entirely to bed for another year. The condition, although much better, recurred from time to time, bringing weakness and pain. After I turned to Christian Science the trouble completely disappeared, thus proving, entirely through the study of Science and Health, the wonderful healing power of Christian Science, and the truth of Mrs. Eddy's words on page 365 of this book, that "disease will vanish into its native nothingness like dew before the morning sunshine." Since that time I have had many healings demonstrated through the help and loving work of Christian Science practitioners; and to their patience and wisdom I owe much more than words can express; but for the first two healings and the lesson then taught, that Truth alone heals, I can never be sufficiently grateful.

At another time, while staying with some friends who were not Christian Scientists, a severe attack of influenza developed; and although I had help from another Scientist who was with me, fear became so great at the seemingly dangerous condition that a practitioner was asked to come and help me. This she lovingly did. One of the thoughts which was causing fear was that of conveying infection to others of the household. This was overcome by the practitioner, who pointed out that God's child could bring only good to others; and as I was anxious to get home I was assured there was no power to keep me in bed if I wished to get up. To mortal sense this seemed impossible at the time; yet, by the clear realization of the truth of this statement, I was up that afternoon and downstairs for dinner, going to bed at the usual time; and I traveled home the second day by train and steamer—healed. Acute neuritis, which according to medical law should have crippled me for six weeks, was overcome by Christian Science treatment in seven days.

My children have been quickly healed of scarlet fever, measles, mumps, weak heart, bad cuts, and appendicitis, the last instantaneously. Of the wonderful truth that God supplies our every need I also have abundant proof.—(Mrs.) Jean Murdoch, Hornsea, East Yorkshire, England.
