A critic, in a recent issue of your paper, said that Christian Science failed by contradicting the age-old truth that God was a personal being. The correct statement on the subject, taken from the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, on page 336, reads, "God is individual and personal in a scientific sense, but not in any anthropomorphic sense." Again, on page 140, she says: "The Jewish tribal Jehovath was a man-projected God, liable to wrath, repentance, and human changeableness. The Christian Science God is universal, eternal, divine Love, which changeth not and causeth no evil, disease, nor death." This reasonable and satisfying idea of God taught by Mrs. Eddy is the basis of all Christian Science doctrine and practice; it appeals to thought and reason, and is meeting the needs of humanity, including both Jew and Christian.
