When Christian Science was presented to me several years...
When Christian Science was presented to me several years ago, instead of gladly accepting this gospel of "on earth peace, good will toward men," I met it with a great sense of prejudice and antagonism, these being the thoughts held by my family and friends, and therefore the ones I supposed right to express.
Finally, realizing that there was but one way in which the facts could be learned, I secured a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. After reading but a small portion of this book, I was healed of constipation, an ailment which I had had from childhood, and for which drugs had proved unavailing. Shortly after, while reading in the textbook, glasses which had been worn since a small child, fell from my face and broke into many pieces. As oculists had said that my eyes were in a bad condition, and would constantly grow worse, fear was expressed for my comfort during the few hours it would require to get new lenses. This seeming accident proved of particular significance, however; for I continued my reading without discomfort, and after a time realized that my healing had been complete, and that divine Love had guided and protected me throughout the experience. Bilious
Which were chronic and steadily becoming worse, red, never to recur; although such illness was hereditary, and a basis for trouble of a more alarm nature. These healings occurred when I seemed to know little of Christian Science and its application; but for the measure of childlike faith and receptivity that made the demonstrations possible, I feel much appreciation. They prove true the promise of the Bible, "Before they call, I will answer."
Many other healings of various sorts—physical, mental, and financial—have been experienced. For this great truth, given to us in this age for all time by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and for the practitioners who have so lovingly helped in time of need, I am grateful indeed. There is not an hour in the day when there is not opportunity to prove the practicability of the Christ, Truth, and the harmony it brings to all mankind. Truly has the psalmist said, "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits."

Gratitude to God and to Mrs. Eddy prompt me to express my thankfulness for all that Christian Science has brought to me. Several years ago, I became interested in learning something about the subject, and at that time was healed of a cold through the help of a kind practitioner. Later I grasped the opportunity to attend the Sunday school. A workable understanding did not, however, come to me until experiences while in active service with the American Expeditionary Forces compelled me to learn more about God and to place my reliance on Him. It was through learning more of God and His idea, man, that a sense of self began to be eliminated; and many experiences were worked out that seemed miraculous, but we know in Science that they were the operation of the law of God.
Christian Science meets every need in our home. Problems of supply have been met, many physical and mental healings made manifest, and a wonderful glimpse of the protection of the loving Father, whom we are taught to know aright in Christian Science, has been gained.
