Ten years ago I began to have what is called rheumatism. At first I felt only the stiffening of the muscles, gradually getting worse, until at the end of two years I was crippled a good part of the time because it had become so painful to move my limbs. During this time I had had the advice of physicians. Many remedies had been tried, but none of them had given more than temporary relief. Finally, one day, I lost consciousness for several minutes. This made my parents feel that something else must be done. A friend spoke to us of Christian Science. Although we knew nothing whatever about Science at the time, we felt desperate enough to try anything. A Christian Science practitioner was asked for help; and in eight days' treatment I was completely healed. I have never had an ache or pain of that kind since. In the last eight years I have had many physical healings, and much more help spiritually and mentally. For all these, I feel very grateful,—grateful also to Mrs. Eddy for giving to the world Christian Science, and to the loving practitioner, who has always been such a help and inspiration to me.

Another demonstration, to which I was a witness, made a great impression on me at the time,—it showed me the truth so plainly. Science was new to me, and some things seemed so hard to understand. My brother, a boy of eleven years, while watching some men working in a steel mill, stepped into a vat of boiling fluid. One of his legs was burned from the top of his boot to the knee. When he was brought home, he was in terrible pain. My mother asked him if he wanted a doctor or a Christian Science practitioner. At once he asked for a practitioner; and inside of a half hour she was with him. Immediately the pain lessened, and by the time the practitioner left, he was reading quietly. From that time on he was in practically no pain. It was a wonderful experience to watch the beautiful new skin appear in place of the burn. In eleven weeks he was walking around, and going to school. To-day, no one would know that he had ever been burned. There is no scar, and he walks perfectly upright. At the time of the accident a physician, who was in the mill at the time, said he would probably always be lame.

For this healing I am very grateful. Christian Science is indeed the truth that makes free.
