In Proverbs we read, "In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths," while on page 372 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, we find the following correlative statement: "In Christian Science, a denial of Truth is fatal, while a just acknowledgment of Truth and of what it has done for us is an effectual help." My prayer is that my life may express the depth of gratitude I experience as I recall the innumerable reasons I have for rejoicing over the advent of Christian Science into my life. Eight years ago, when I became interested in this inexhaustible subject, I was far from realizing "the glorious liberty of the children of God." I seldom went inside a church, although I had been carefully reared by a loving Christian mother, and was for several years active in the work of an orthodox church. As I grew to young manhood my interest in matters religious waned appreciably, for I found little to attract me in the promise of a salvation afar off.

At this stage, when worldly pursuits and material joys were predominant, the healing by Christian Science of one near and dear caused me to take up the study of this newold religion. In it I found peace, inspiration, and a new understanding of the loving care of God, who had always before seemed a being far removed from daily experience. In the years that have followed I have been privileged to be the recipient of many healings of a so-called physical nature. Glasses, which I had worn for several years and which an experienced oculist had told me never to remove except on retiring, were taken off one night and never put on again; colds, to which I had been subject since childhood, have been overcome in short order; a stiff neck, so painful as to cause intense suffering with every movement, was healed almost without my knowledge; while headaches and a seeming disposition to stomach trouble have also left me. Physically, mentally, and spiritually I have been elevated to a condition far more nearly approaching that at-one-ment with God we are all seeking than was ever the case before I became a student of Christian Science.

I am grateful for these manifestations of the abundance of good and also for others too numerous to record; grateful for the Christian Science literature, which now constitutes practically my entire reading, although formerly I was a devotee of novels and the daily newspapers; grateful to the one who first brought Christian Science to my attention; grateful for the inestimable privilege of class instruction, for the fact that I am now enabled to give my time to the loving task of offering spiritual food to others in need, and most of all for the pure, exalted life of our revered Leader, which enabled her, as she says on page 171 of Science and Health, to "reopen with the key of divine Science the gates of Paradise which human beliefs have closed."
