"To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." These words of our Leader, on page vii of the Preface to Science and Health, every true Christian Scientist is proving for himself daily, and I should like to express my gratitude for the countless blessings which have come to me since taking up the study of Christian Science. I have had many demonstrations of the healing power of Truth, not only in a physical way, but in every way. I am learning to overcome self to a large extent,—self-will, self-opinion, self-importance, and resentment. Before taking up this wonderful study I used to feel that it was rather a virtue than otherwise to resent things done or said to those whom I love, but I now know that to hold resentment for others is quite as much an error to be destroyed as to do so for one's self.

I have had great proof of God's protection, also that He is the source of supply. I have suffered since childhood from severe colds. Under materia medica I used to be kept in the house for two and three weeks at a time, hardly recovering from one cold before having another. They are now overcome through Truth in two or three days, and this past year I have been entirely free from them. Two other healings I should like to speak of particularly. An irritating rash manifested itself suddenly all over the body, with the exception of my face and hands. As I was visiting at the time in a house where only one person was interested in Christian Science, I immediately called a practitioner, and in less than twenty-four hours there was not a trace of the rash left, and I had no return of the trouble.

For twenty-seven years I wore glasses steadily, never being for one moment without them, on account of a structural defect of the eyes and a muscular difficulty. Seven oculists told me that I should always be obliged to wear glasses, but I am happy to say that with the loving help of a Christian Science practitioner and my own efforts I have been able to lay them aside. I should like to add for the benefit of anyone who is trying to make a similar demonstration, hoping my experience may be a help, that I did not give up my glasses altogether at first, feeling the need of them for a time for reading and working. Although my sight was steadily clearing, still I was not satisfied with my progress, and in trying to find what was holding me from making the complete demonstration, it came to me that I was keeping my glasses near me all the time and depending upon material help, instead of relying implicitly on God. I immediately threw them away, and have never felt the need of them since, now over a year. I can use my eyes for all kinds of work without any discomfort.

While deeply grateful for these physical healings, I am far more grateful for the spiritual uplift and for the better understanding of man's relation to God, which comes with each demonstration. Words seem very inadequate to express my deep thankfulness to God and my gratitude to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has given to the world this beautiful truth, which is healing and saving all mankind.
