Some recent statements in regard to Christian Science need correction, if our critic has been correctly reported. Different denominations have their Bible helps or commentaries as an aid in studying the Scriptures. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy is a Christian Science commentary. That it is truly a "key" has been proven in the experience of thousands of people in gaining a better understanding of the Scriptures. It has made the Bible promises more precious to them than before they knew of Christian Science. It has been a boon to multiplied thousands who were sick and diseased, for it has shown them that God's promises are available today; and as a result, many have been restored to health when hope had failed after the use of material remedies.

Not only have the sick been healed through Christian Science, but it has been the means of leading many out of infidelity and atheism into the light of God and to an acceptance of Jesus' teachings, thus proving the accusation of our critics to be without actual foundation. Jesus taught that judgment should be made according to the fruit. When Christian Science is correctly understood, it can have no other effect than to increase one's faith and reliance in the true and living God. It awakens a greater love for the Bible and a greater desire to strive to follow in the footsteps of Christ Jesus. The wisdom of Gamaliel is still appropriate: "And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for it this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to naught: but if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God."

Would it not be far better if these critics who go about condemning Christian Science would seek to follow Jesus in healing the sick through an understanding of his teachings, instead of wasting their time in attacking Christian Scientists who are striving to do so?
