It would be impossible for me to enumerate the many benefits I have received from the study and application of the truth taught in the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. It is now thirty years since Christian Science first found me. At that time I was confined to my bed with what the doctors diagnosed as female trouble. From childhood I had been considered frail, and my parents, in their ignorance of the truth of being, held the law of heredity over me; but thanks be to God I now know that the so-called law of heredity is not true. In my first healing it was proven to me that God's law is the only law.

My husband had spent much money for medical treatment for me, but without any permanent results, until finally two of our local physicians, after consultation, gave him very little encouragement that I would ever be any better. Then a lady called to see me, and said there was a Christian Science practitioner coming to our town that afternoon, and asked why I did not try Christian Science. My husband met the practitioner at the depot and invited her to our home. My healing was almost instantaneous, for I received my first treatment on Saturday afternoon, and the following morning I was up and dressed when the practitioner came. Before that day closed I called on my nearest neighbor, and the following Wednesday evening attended mid-week prayer-meeting at the church of which I was at that time a member, to the astonishment of those present.

I have never taken a drop of medicine since my first treatment. God alone has been our physician in every time of need, and His grace has been sufficient for us. My husband is a contractor and builder, and in April, 1908, while at work with his men on a new building, the scaffold gave way under them, and he fell about twenty-five feet, head downward, into an excavation. He was practically hung up by one foot, and was taken out of the hole for dead and carried in an unconscious condition to a surgeon's office. It was found that the had sustained a very serious scalp wound (it seemed necessary to take nine stitches).

The accident happened at two o'clock, and three hours later he was brought home, Christian Science treatment being given him meantime. He sat at the table and ate supper with the family, and the following morning dressed himself, and before nine o'clock was out on the street looking after his business. The morning of the ninth day the stitches were removed and the surgeon was much astonished to find the wound perfectly healed. He has had many other demonstrations over falls, cuts, and the like, and his men have been surprised to see him go right on with his work as though nothing had happened.

For the encouragement of any who may think their improvement is slow, I will give my experience. A few months after my husband's healing I was suddenly overcome with a nervous breakdown which bordered on insanity. For three years different Christian Science practitioner treated me, until finally the trouble yielded to the spoken words of Truth and was destroyed.

I am now enjoying perfect health, and words cannot express my thankfulness for what Christian Science has done for me. I am thankful for its regenerating power, for the life of our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and for the privilege of studying her writings. I am also thankful for my membership in The Mother Church and the local society, and for the understanding which has enabled me to speak the word that has healed others.
