It is four years since I began to study Christian Science, and I should like to bear testimony here to one of the many blessings I have received through it. In Science and Health (p. 323) Mrs. Eddy says, "The effects of Christian Science are not so much seen as felt," and I have proved the truth of this, for darkness is gradually being turned into light,—light which I earnestly hope in time to be able to radiate on those around me.

One afternoon about two years ago I pinched my finger badly while folding up a deck-chair, and the pain was so great that it made me feel faint. I was alone at the time, and sat down, wondering if I were going to have a bad finger, when suddenly I remembered that matter can have no feeling. In a few minutes the pain stopped and all traces of the swelling and bruise had disappeared. I am thankful for what Christian Science has brought into my life, and my one wish is to help others.

While in their infancy my two sons were healed through Christian Science of a skin disease supposedly inherited, the healing of the younger one being most remarkable. After wiring a practitioner to treat him, he improved so rapidly that in three days his skin was without a blemish. When about eighteen months old, this child in falling threw his hand out against a red-hot stove. I made use of my understanding of divine Science, and in a few minutes he stopped crying and in half an hour had forgotten about the injury. Although a blister appeared, he played about as usual, using his hand and refusing to keep it bandaged. At the end of a week there was scarcely a trace of it, and in a few days more even the scar vanished.

The almost painless birth of my last child, the overcoming of fevers, bowel disorders, and an injured ankle healed, are a few more of the blessings that Christian Science has brought to us; but above all is the spiritual peace "which passeth all understanding." For this I am most thankful to God, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy, whose noble life made it possible for us to receive this rich legacy. I am also grateful for the privilege of listening to several lectures by members of the board of lectureship, and to The Christian Science Publishing Society for the literature from which we all glean so much good.—Grace A. Benson, Randsburg, Cal.
