[Written for the Sentinel]

Trinity

Beyond the sun that floods the earth with light
And brings the day to dawn on mortal sight,
Beyond the moon that glorifies the night
And myriad stars that make the heavens bright,
Is Life eternal, known to us as God.

Above the plane of error's vain display
And changing mortal law's tumultuous sway,
Above perplexities from day to day,
With sin's false pleasures thick along the way,
Is Truth unchanging, and this Truth is God.

Above the stroke of malice and of hate,
Of treachery and greed insatiate,
Of dreaded failure and of ruthless fate,
Above the path where dangers lie in wait,
Is Love unfailing, and this Love is God.
