[Written for the Sentinel.]

MY VISION

The blinding mists have lifted from the face
Of all mankind, of earth, and troubled sea;
Time's sickle reaps no more, and in its place
Revolve the cycles of eternity.

Earth's shades have fled before eternal light,
And men no longer live in dread and fear;
They cast away the shackles of the night,
And man his Father's image doth appear.

With rosy glow of truth the sky is flushed,
And all the world in harmony doth blend;
The claims of mine and thine forever hushed—
All pain and want and woe are at an end.

And what has ushered in this blissful state
Of universal love and holy truth,
Where mightiest on humblest e'en doth wait,
And age is lost in one perennial youth?

The word divine, irradiating light,
From century to century has sprung,
Cleaving and rolling back the clouds of night
That round the hearts of men have groped and clung.

And now 'tis done! the truth with us remains—
His word has not returned unto Him void!
And in the peace that follows flow sweet strains
Which touch the heart and leave it overjoyed.

At last our prayers, devoid of self, ascend
In vibrant tones of purest harmony;
They with God's waiting answer meet and blend,
Thus forming part of heaven's symphony.

Again the morning stars together sing!
The joy which seers have prophesied has come—
And from high heaven itself these words outring:
"Behold, 'tis here, the great millennium!"

We'd love to hear from you!
