I became interested in Christian Science over two years...
I became interested in Christian Science over two years ago through the healing of my wife. We were then married fifteen years. For two years before coming into Christian Science she was not able to do her housework, neither did her condition allow of the work being done at the house the greater part of that time. Having tried numerous prominent doctors and all sorts of medicines without relief, she was at last advised by her doctor to undergo a severe operation. This being her only hope for relief, she consented; but after it she suffered untold pains, and not being relieved from her former troubles, her misery was still greater.
One day she met a lady who advised her to try Christian Science. She did so, and after the fourth treatment she found relief and was able to do light housework. By reading our text-book, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, while also taking treatment, she has gained a good understanding of the truth. Today she is enjoying the truth she found in Christian Science, and doing all work which is expected of a woman with pleasure and ease. Our home has the past year been filled with happiness and sunshine. Surely I have reason to be thankful for Christian Science, which has brought the truth into our home.
E. J. Putt, Baltic, Ohio.
I came into Christian Science over two years ago, after having suffered for many years. I had tried a number of doctors, medicines, hygiene, and so forth, but found no relief therein. At last I was advised to undergo a severe operation, which I did a year previous to my coming into Christian Science; but after it I was worse, so I concluded to try Christian Science. After the fourth treatment I was healed so that I gave up glasses which I had worn for about twelve years, during which time I had suffered greatly with my eyes and head.
For about two years before coming into this truth, much of the time I could not have the children at the house, and at times could not bear even their whispering, so that they were often compelled to leave the house and I would sit alone all day with only a little light, as my eyes could not bear it. All this seemed very hard to me and my family. I was also healed in Christian Science of stomach trouble which I had had for many years, and now I eat things that I could not eat before. I have also been healed of bladder trouble, from which I suffered severely at times for about fifteen years. I was subject to frequent colds, but have not had a cold this winter, though I wear only half the weight of clothing I used to wear before coming into Christian Science, and am comfortable. I am now able to do harder work and with greater ease than ever before. Whenever a sense of fatigue arises, I cling to the thought that God is my life and my strength, and His power has no limit; and I very soon overcome it in this way.
My daughter was healed in Christian Science of St. Vitus' dance, in four weeks' treatment. About five months after coming into this truth, I healed both of my children of wearing glasses. My son was near-sighted, so that he could not see the figures on the blackboard unless he stood very close to it, and at times his eyes pained him. Now he sits in the rear of the schoolroom and says he can see the figures very plainly. Since their healing the children have been reading more than ever before and without glasses. Later, my son had measles, but was not sick to amount to anything, and I could scarcely keep him in the house. All these healings were brought about through the understanding that God is the only Life; that He does not make any of His children to suffer, and that there is no life in matter.
Some time ago I visited with my brother, who was one of my doctors, and he said, "Who would have thought a year ago that you would be the woman you are today!" To him my healing seemed wonderful, as he had not seen me so well for many years. That these lines may help some poor sufferer and wanderer who is seeking for the truth is my earnest wish. I praise and thank God more each day for this truth as revealed to us by our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy.—Mrs. E. J. Putt, Baltic, Ohio.
