I feel it my duty to tell others some of the many blessings...
I feel it my duty to tell others some of the many blessings we have received through Christian Science. It has made our home a place of peace and harmony, in place of one of discord and suffering. When we came into Christian Science eight years ago, I was healed of a cough of nine years' standing, and later was healed of a fever in its worst form, when four persons passed away from it in our little town under the care of physicians. I was, however, healed, and was strong and well and did the work for eight in the family. Our daughter was healed of a distressing nervous trouble of about ten years' standing, and our children who were subject to a severe throat trouble every winter are now entirely free from it.
We have had some serious accidents, but through the understanding of God's protecting care they were overcome. I find that we need not fear if we follow in the footsteps of Truth. Mrs. Eddy tells us that we should keep our minds so filled with Truth and Love that there will be no room for error to enter in, and I am trying to remember Christ Jesus' words: "I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world." I thank God, and I am grateful to dear Mrs. Eddy, for all the blessings we have received in Christian Science.—Hattie Goodman, Alexander, N. Y.
I can but feel truly thankful for the blessings that have come to me, as I look back to the time of my sickness, when all seemed darkness. For five years I had been under the care of doctors most of the time. I also went to a specialist, who helped me at first, but each time the trouble came back again. At last I became so greatly discouraged and so weak that I gave up trying to fight against the disease any longer. I was a professing Christian, and felt that God put me here for a purpose; therefore I must not be discontented. I counted my blessings, and knew they were many, but I could not see the bright side of life.
After I had lost all faith in medicine, I was asked by a friend to try Christian Science; but like many others I had inquired about it some time before, and had gotten my information from people who knew very little more about it than I did. Their opinion, together with some articles I had read, gave me a wrong impression and turned me against this Science; but I was getting worse, and as I had my school work to do I decided to try it. From the first treatment I never took any more medicine, and this was nearly three years ago. Before that time I wore glasses and was troubled with a bowel disorder, but I am glad to say that I have not worn glasses since the first week after I began to take treatment. I grew steadily better, until I could say I was well. The people with whom I am associated in my work as a teacher remarked about the improvement in my health, and my work in the following year was a good test, as it was more difficult than during any year I had taught; but I did not get discouraged, and the nervousness never came back.
I hope this testimony may lead some one to find the bright side of life as I have found it. I give my thanks to God for the blessings I have received.
