After six years' study of Christian Science, and an entire reliance upon its healing methods for that time, I find it difficult to know where to begin to tell of the blessings it has brought to me. As my own healing was what led me to Truth, I will confine myself to that for the time being.

I was never strong, and was constantly taking tonics, both as a schoolgirl and after marriage. In addition to this condition, I developed hereditary stomach trouble. The birth of my first child brought on an affection which never left me for thirteen years. I obtained temporary relief through medical treatment only for a short time, and then any unusual exertion or worry would bring on the suffering worse than before. During these thirteen years I was scarcely out of the doctor's care for more than two months at a time, and was always having to take medicine. The stomach trouble became more aggravated as time wore on, in spite of careful dieting and obedience to so-called health laws. I was finally reduced to invalidism by periodical attacks of this ailment, which were so acute that nothing could relieve but hypodermic injections, and from which it would take weeks for me to recover.

After two years of such suffering, the attacks becoming more frequent, I was taken down with peritonitis, with complications of kidney-stones and an abscess which required an operation. I had two relapses after getting up, and was certainly in a very serious way. I was thoroughly discouraged with materia medica, and had taken a course of physical culture, massage, etc., but with no permanent relief, or even much benefit at the time. My friends had already told me of Christian Science and what it had done for them, so I started with the treatment. In two weeks' time everything had yielded to such an extent that I knew I was healed, and stopped treatment. My strength steadily increased, I was able to eat anything I wanted, and for the past five years I have been perfectly well and strong, never having had such strength and health before in my whole life.

The teaching of Christian Science immediately appealed to me, and the marvelous revelation of God, Spirit, and man as His image and likeness, hence spiritual, has never left my consciousness with its message of love and courage. I have told only a small part of what Christian Science has been to me, for the physical healing is but the outcome of the inward illumination or understanding, and that cannot be told in words, but by the same works that Jesus did and commanded his followers to do. I have found that when I follow the divine rules laid down for us in the Bible, and explained to us more fully in Mrs. Eddy's book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," I have been able to heal pain and discord and make my life a useful and happy one, instead of one filled with suffering and disappointment.

Is it any wonder that we who have received such benefits think of Mrs. Eddy with the utmost gratitude and love in our hearts for her brave stand against "the world, the flesh, and the devil," in order to give us Jesus' religion, "pure and undefiled" in Christian Science!
