It is now over three years since I first became interested in Christian Science. I was then a physical wreck, having undergone three operations within two years. After the last operation I had a continual pain in my side, from which I could get no relief until I called upon a Christian Science practitioner and took treatments for a short time. The pain in the side entirely left me, also hemorrhage and bowel trouble were overcome. I have had no need of material remedies, nor taken any since my healing in Christian Science. For this I am deeply grateful to God, also to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy.

Mrs. Edward Loyce, Chicago, Ill.

For the past three years Christian Science has daily been to me a guide and comfort. I was led to it when weary and heavy laden,—physically without comfort, spiritually without rest. Out of many experiences which have helped me to realize the divine Principle on which this Science rests, I wish to relate one, in gratitude to our beloved Leader and perhaps as an encouragement for some one who is beginning to travel the straight and narrow way.

I awoke one morning with a feeling of oppression in my head, usually a forerunner of an old enemy, which for a time made it difficult for me to rise; but I dressed and went about my usual duties, denying the reality of the pain as I worked. At about three o'clock I had finished, so that I could go to my room for quiet, and I closed the door and remained undisturbed for an hour. I treated myself silently, and soon realized that the tense feeling was leaving me. I then opened Science and Health at page 410, and as I read, the fear which is an element of all discord left me. Even before the pain was gone I felt that like Jacob I had "prevailed." Such a sense of peace and joy and assured rest came to me, that I knew my demonstration was made.

With this assurance there also came a feeling of gratitude to God, and of awe as if beholding the pure and holy, which impelled me to turn to the Bible. I longed for the words of Jesus, and I remembered how, even before he bade Lazarus come forth, he turned to God and said, "Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always." After Jesus' expression of gratitude came his expression of perfect trust, and again, because of this perfect trust, he made a perfect demonstration. Those are wonderful words; they show us plainly how to pray. I feel that the study of the Scriptures in the light of Christian Science and with the aid of Science and Health, brings me nearer and nearer to the attainment of that peace "which passeth all understanding."
