AMONG THE CHURCHES

Second Church of Christ, Scientist, is to be erected shortly on the northeast corner of East Pine and East Seventh, at a cost forty thousand dollars. Plans are in the architect's office, undergoing needed changes, and the buildings now occupying the quarter block will be removed after these plans are perfected. The ground was bought by the building committee something over two years ago for eight thousand dollars, and is now valued at fifteen thousand, or nearly double what it cost in 1907. In architecture the edifice will be of he Greek order, with massive pillars supporting a grand dome, and it will be an ornament to the landscape. The vicinity selected is already the site of several graceful church edifices.—Portland Telegram.

The wanderings of First Church of Christ, Scientist, will cease today [Aug. 29], when services will be held at eleven o'clock in the temporary structure erected within the walls of the proposed new church building at Sixteenth avenue and Denny way, where they will be continued until the new building, to cost $100,000, is finished.
