Every testimony in the Sentinel is helpful to me, and...

Every testimony in the Sentinel is helpful to me, and for this help I feel very grateful. Perhaps one way of expressing this gratitude is for me to give my own testimony to the wonders of Truth. For several years before coming into Christian Science, I had a number of diseases, and in the fall of 1902 we started out and traveled almost a year, trying to find a location which would agree with me. We went South and spent the winter; then in the spring we went to western Kansas, and while visiting relatives there I heard of Christian Science. Although I did not then accept it, the belief that medicine had any power to help me disappeared, and I found myself without any faith in materia medica. I did not then know enough of Christian Science to have faith in it, but the time came when I had to decide.

I wrote to this relative and told her there was a Christian Science church in our town, but that I would have to be helped before I could get there. I did not know any one in the town who was a Christian Scientist, and had not enough interest, when I was visiting this relative, to find out much about Christian Science. I was, however, helped to get to church. and have been able to go ever since. A lady loaned me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and I tried to read it, but it was like an unknown tongue to me, and I did not seem to understand anything I read. I would lay the book aside, thinking that others might understand it, but that I could not. I, however, continued to read, and was healed of kidney, stomach, and throat trouble, also of female disease, headaches, etc., and above all of a disagreeable temper. Then, after these ailments had disappeared, lung trouble seemed to fasten itself upon me, and as I was young in Science my relative treated me, and in three weeks I was healed. A sister had passed on with this same disease over two years before, and relatives and friends said I would be the next to go. I therefore feel that if it had not been for Christian Science I would not be here to testify today.

I am thankful to God, and to Mrs. Eddy, for all the blessings that have come to me through Christian Science, and I would say to those who do not seem to understand the text-book at first, to keep on reading, and the light will come if they are faithful.

Mrs. S. F. Jaggar, Parsons, Kan.

I wish to give thanks for what Christian Science has done for me. Ten years ago I was a hopeless invalid, and some friends who knew of my condition urged me to try Christian Science. I reluctantly gave myself up to be treated by a practitioner living in Boston. Not knowing what Christian Science is, I had no faith in it, or that I should ever be well, as I had been ill many years, although I had what we thought to be the best of physicians. After taking up Christian Science, to my great joy, I was healed of a growth on my side almost immediately, other troubles yielding more slowly. I am now well, and I feel very thankful to Mrs. Eddy for discovering Christian Science, which teaches me how to understand God.

I would also like to mention some healing which has taken place in the family since my own healing. My son, who was seven years old at the time, was healed of a severe attack of lung lung trouble. As it seemed a severe case it was thought best to call a practitioner nearer home. This Scientist came to us, and in a few days the boy was healed. My husband was healed of a severe attack of an eruption which affected his face and eyes. For this healing I thank God, and those who had the understanding of how to heal. As our Leader says, "God will heal the sick through man, whenever man is governed by God" (Science and Health, p. 495).

Words fail to express my thankfulness for what Christian Science has done for us all, but I hope these few words may help others to look into Christian Science, that they also may receive the blessing.
