I have felt for some time that I must express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me and my family. Often, when I think upon what I was before I knew anything of this great truth, it makes me feel as though so much of my life had been wasted. It is about eight years since I was first healed of terrible stomach and liver trouble. I had tried all kinds of medicine, and change of climate, finally resorting to hygiene, with dieting; starving myself till I had become very thin, weighing scarcely ninety pounds. We moved to Vallejo, and shortly after this I was persuaded by a friend to try Christian Science. I bought a copy of Science and Health and began to take treatments. In two weeks I was healed, could eat anything I desired, and in six weeks I had gained twenty pounds. Our little girl, then five years old, was healed of croup, and has never had it since. When she was eighteen months old I had an operation performed which left me in a condition from which I suffered untold agony. There were times when I would become dizzy and fall, if not careful to keep hold of something. Sometimes I felt as though I should lose my mind, and often thought of taking my own life. One morning I had a very severe attack, which soon developed into an alarming form of spinal trouble. My husband and little girl were greatly frightened, and sent for a Christian Science practitioner to come as quickly as possible. Before she had finished with the first treatment, I came to and was very much easier. She, however, stayed with me all day, and by four o'clock I was able to get up, dress myself, and eat a good supper. All trace of the dread disease was gone, except for a little weakness; but I had the treatments continued for a while, and the result was that I was completely healed of the headaches and other troubles.

This was three years after the healing of my stomach trouble. I had been holding back all this time, thinking I could not afford to take treatment. In a year after my last healing there came to our home a dear little baby girl. It was an entirely painless birth. The nurse said she had never witnessed anything like it before. I was up for a while each day, and the fifth day got up and dressed myself. I dismissed the nurse that day, attending to my own housework and washing. The baby has always been strong and healthy. Some of my friends, who knew nothing of Christian Science, had great fear for me, but how could I keep back from taking what was my just inheritance? I felt like leaping and praising God, from whom all blessings flow. If every one could but know who is their best friend, how light would be their burdens!

Words cannot express the gratitude I feel to God, and to Mrs. Eddy for her many years of untiring labor for suffering humanity. My prayer is that I may live a more obedient life in Christ, Truth, and realize and express more love in my daily life.
