Through gratitude to God, and to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy,...
Through gratitude to God, and to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, I gladly testify to the healing power of Truth as taught in Christian Science. About the 3rd of January, 1904, while working in a saw-mill, I slipped and my hand was terribly injured by a spiked roller. As soon as it was done the power of Truth was realized, and the sense of pain quickly stopped. Every one who works for this company is compelled to be insured, and as soon as my hand was injured the doctor was sent for. Meanwhile I went home, and when the doctor arrived his services were refused, but he said I could not draw any insurance unless I had medical attention. The doctor asked to see my hand; in fact, he compelled to do so in order to make out the insurance report. He examined the hand, and said it was in a bad condition, and that had better have something done for it. The doctor made the statement to a friend of mine, that if I had my hand taken off I could save my arm, but that otherwise I would lose my arm and perhaps my life. Christian Science treatment was, however, secured and relied upon, and all the torn flesh came off, the loose came out, and the severed fingers grew to the hand again. I did not suffer any pain whatever, nor lose any sleep on account of this severe injury, and by the first of April my hand was healed. I am very thankful for the truth revealed in Christian Science.—J. A. Brinkley, Laurel, Miss.
