Testimony Meeting at Phoenix, Ariz

Clerk

The first testimony was given by a lady who told of a gentleman who was healed of asthma, having come to this valley six years ago, seeking health through climate. After all material remedies and climate failed, and he was no better but rather worse, he decided to try Christian Science. Through the realization of the Truth he was completely healed of what the doctors claim to be a very stubborn disease.

The next speaker told of a lady who was healed of epileptic fits. After twenty years of bondage to this belief she turned to Christian Science as a last resort, and in it she found health and peace. She is now a Reader in one of the Christian Science churches.

The third speaker told of a case of insanity that she was asked to treat absently, the patient being in an asylum, several thousand miles away. The patient was restored to her perfect state of mind.

The next speaker was a visiting Scientist. This gentleman concluded by telling of a lady whose horse ran away with her. She said at first she had no sense of fear until one of her lines fell, then she began to repeat the Scientific Statement of Being. Finally she was thrown from the vehicle striking the ground on her head and shoulder. A crowd gathered around and she was carried into a house near by. A doctor in the vicinity came in to see what he could do, as the lady was in great pain. After the doctor examined her he said there were no bones broken, but that her spine was badly injured, and that something must be done to relieve her suffering. By this time her husband arrived, and thanking the doctor for his kindness, said they would rely on Christian Science treatment. In a few minutes a healer was by the bedside. All were asked to leave the room, and the Scientist began treatment. In half an hour the lady, with a little assistance, was able to walk out of the house, and a distance of fifty feet to the carriage. The following day she was able to be up around the house, and the third day was down town as well as ever, much to the surprise of many who saw her when she was thrown from the buggy and who do not understand the healing power of Christian Science.

I should like to add one more demonstration of love in connection with the members of our church and those interested in the Truth. A few months ago we decided that we would have a lecture. After the meeting Wednesday evening, a subscription paper was passed around to see what could be raised for that purpose, and in fifteen minutes, there was seventy-five dollars subscribed. We had a very small attendance that evening, only about a dozen being present. Later the balance was made up in a very loving spirit, and the citizens as well as ourselves enjoyed a very intelligent lecture delivered by Dr. Fluno of California.

The members of this church join in earnest love and thankfulness to God, and to our beloved Leader, Rev. Mary Baker G. Eddy, for the manifold blessings which have come to us through her teachings, and especially for the new edition of Science and Health.

Mrs. Catherine Rumney, Clerk.
