As I look back to my first experience in Christian Science, I wonder why I have been so slow to take advantage of its benefits. When I first heard of Christian Science, some ten years ago, we were boarding in the same house with one of Mrs. Eddy's loyal students. At that time my wife was an invalid suffering from rheumatism to such an extent that she had to be carried up and down stairs, and even on the level floor could not walk without assistance. She suffered night and day, and when she moved her knee joints one could hear a creaking sound across the room. Two of the best physicians in this part of the country, said she could not live in Chicago, and that we must move to California or some warmer climate, if we expected any relief. We then turned to Christian Science without any expectation of lasting results. I enquired about the manner of treatment, and felt that it would do no harm. After the first treatment my wife was able to go up and down stairs with a little assistance, and after the fifth treatment my wife and I went to a dancing party at the Ashland Club and she danced six or seven dances. From that day to this, she has had no indication of rheumatism, having been perfectly healed in five treatments.

One would suppose that this demonstration of the healing power of Christian Science was enough to start me in the investigation of the subject. We did buy "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and read it through, but could not understand it. I felt, however, that I had found something which was better than medicine, and I felt that I could call in a healer whenever occasion required. I did not realize until five years later that Christian Science was something I required every hour of the day and something to be used practically in my business and home life.

I am grateful to Christian Science for the many blessings it has brought to my household, and I now see how much I might have had, had I accepted it when it was first brought to my attention by my wife's wonderful case of healing.—F. H. Kilbourn, Chicago, Ill.
