Christian Science has done much for us in the last four...
Christian Science has done much for us in the last four years, since we have tried to follow its teachings.
Having in our home three children, we have often seen the power of Truth and Love. When we first came into Christian Science, our first desire was to have treatment for our little girl who was then two and a half years old but could not walk and never even made any attempt to do so. People often would say, "I wonder what is the matter with her, her spine must be affected." We soon saw that it was our problem to work out. Some time after we had class instruction the demonstration was made.
The next problem took a little longer. The child could not speak, but our teacher gave us a little help, and that demonstration is also made.
During the year 1901 our oldest boy had an old claim of croup come on one him one night. We seemed to feel that he was in danger of some kind, even before we awoke. We declared the Truth for him for an hour, sometimes audibly but mostly silently. Although he seemed to be choking, we kept right on realizing God's allness, until finally his breath came gently, and at the end of an hour it was perfectly natural. Oh, how near God seemed to us! the consciousness of His presence remained with me for a long time. The child has never had a return of the claim since, although he had been troubled since he was a year and a half old, and he is now eight.
Every day brings new blessings. The spiritual help, however, is the greatest. It has given us the peace that Jesus gave to his disciples, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you."
Words are too feeble to express our gratitude for all these blessings, — to God for His goodness, and to Mrs. Eddy for her unceasing labor to bring this all about; and for our Lesson Sermons, — each week they seem more beau tiful as thought unfolds. The beauty of these sermons is, that we can study them at home each day, having rich spiritual food. — Mrs. Tabitha Marx, Detroit, Mich.
