Abscission
Elaina Simpson
Like trees that grow then let leaves fall,
as we obey our Father’s call,
we too can drop what doesn’t serve—
our thoughts evolve, and Love is heard.
You see gold leaves sway to and fro?
They cannot help, so let them go—
remove false fears and fallen views.
Detach the old; welcome the new.
You hear the wind move brittle leaves?
God blows away what would deceive.
Prayer sheds the false, tells fears to cease.
Like fall, there’s beauty in release.
What drops away is what’s outgrown—
the fruitless lies about God’s own.
So take the spiritual and true—
the seasons’ lessons of growing new.
