God is the only force at work

Sometimes I’ve found that we’re led by God into circumstances that, at first, don’t necessarily seem like the perfect fit for us. But with persistence and trust in these divine nudges, we may find that a larger plan was at work. I learned this lesson a few years ago when I accepted a job that I felt God had nudged me toward.

The position was a step in the right direction for my career, but, as I got into the work, it just didn’t inspire me. It was a three-year research project that I felt didn’t allow me to work at my full potential. On top of this, I spent a good portion of my days working all alone in the corner of a large office. I wondered why I’d been led to take this job when it seemed as if there were better ways my abilities could be of use to society.

After a number of months in the position, I decided that it was time to make a change. I researched and applied for different jobs, but I didn’t get anywhere. Though I showed up for work each day without enthusiasm, I still felt that God was daily giving me purpose and activity. And while I did the job the best I could, I was keen to move on as soon as possible.
