Insect sting quickly healed

I was stung on my face by a deer fly and felt a sharp pain. I prayed, acknowledging that the universe is created by God—that it is spiritual and under the unerring government of the divine Mind, which is entirely good and cannot cause harm.

The next morning the pain was gone, but I looked like a pumpkin. I called a Christian Science practitioner to help me understand my spiritual identity, so I could overcome the error, or false belief, of being vulnerable to injury.

The practitioner answered immediately. I was in Canada and felt far from home, but knowing my need was heard was a relief. I felt within me all the love of divine Love’s presence.

This was a turning point. In the next 15 minutes a fluid drained from my cheek, and then the swelling disappeared. The healing power of divine Love showed the notion that God’s children can be hurt to be an illusion—a falsehood about our real nature. And the symptoms that weren’t in line with that true nature ceased.

How reassuring it is to know that God, Love, responds to our call every single moment! I like to remind myself often, “Soul has infinite resources with which to bless mankind, . . .” (Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 60). Divine Soul, or God, is always caring for us.
