I was sure I loved God so very much,
For hadn't I felt His healing touch?
But a problem arose that took me to task;
Then I questioned myself and began to ask:
Are you willing and ready to climb a tree
Like Zacchaeus, the better the Christ to see?
Would you climb with a friend to the top of a roof
Completely confident of seeing the proof
Of the Master's great love to heal and to meet
The need of your friend let down at his feet?
Can you like the centurion say, "Speak the word,"
And be always assured your voice is heard?
Then I realized more clearly what had to be done:
I must see God and myself at one,
His perfect idea and pure reflection
Maintaining consistently my perfection.
The healing came when the Christlike touch
Of grace and gentleness, loved so much,
Became a part of my very existence.
Then I claimed the reward of patient persistence.
