Does God really send everlasting punishment?

with Laura Lapointe, Beth Galfer, and Mark Unger

What would you think if you saw a sign saying, “Everlasting punishment, all are welcome!” That very image appeared in The Atlantic Monthly once, to the amusement of its readers. It was a picture of a sign outside a Church of Christ, Scientist, because the subject of “Everlasting punishment” is explored twice a year in Christian Science Sunday services … and all are indeed welcome to attend these services in local branch churches and in The Mother Church in Boston, Massachusetts. But if you do attend the twice-yearly focus on “Everlasting punishment,” the good news is that the theme of such services is that there is no such thing as being everlastingly punished for past mistakes.

And here on this edition of Sentinel Watch, we too are exploring how God’s everlasting love gives us the ability to break free from whatever would hide this redeeming love from us.
