Moving forward

Over the years, I’ve faced many challenges and learned that to move forward, I need to maintain my confidence that spiritual progress is impelled by God and His law. When situations arise that seem to block our path, these may be a sign of something we need to pray through more carefully. Perhaps human will, fear, or the desire for a particular outcome is blocking the way.

Such obstacles may also be evidence of progress as God’s law uncovers what needs to be eliminated from our thought or experience. They may be a sign that thought is being purified or clarified as we’re growing spiritually, and we might be facing mortal mind’s resistance to change. Understanding the spiritual facts of God’s goodness and ever-present love gives us hope in times of challenge. And hope supports healing.

Through the lens of Christian Science, we begin to see obstacles or challenges as really opportunities for us to better understand God as present, all-powerful good. We also see more clearly our spiritual nature as His dear children, perfectly cared for. Here’s an example of a challenge that did that for me.
