To express eternal Life

For the lesson titled "Probation After Death" from April 18–24, 2011

This week’s Bible Lesson, titled “Probation After Death,” for reading in churches on Easter Sunday, addresses and clarifies what Christian Science classifies as the false belief, or illusion, called death, and reveals the Science of Life, the eternal God. It confirms that as God’s sons and daughters, we must be eternal as well.

When we begin with God, the only Cause, it becomes clear that we are not living life, but Life is living us! As we read in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, “Nothing really has Life but God, who is infinite Life; hence all is Life, and death has no dominion” (p. 347, citation 2). Our oneness with God is our salvation. We learn to express eternal Life by our present obedience to the teachings and example of Christ Jesus, who came to show us the way.

The Lesson begins with the Psalmist’s declaration in the Golden Text, “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord” (118:17). The Psalmist knows his purpose for existing is to be the living expression of the eternal glory of God and His goodness.
